The aroma of delicious beef roulade recipe that drifted from my grandmother's kitchen is one of my most beautiful childhood memories. This delicious beef roll-up is made with sliced beef, onion, and pickled dill!

Simply one of the best comfort food of all time!

If you are from the Northeastern part of the United States, especially in a state such as Pennsylvania, or if you are from Germany, you might be growing with a delicious beef roulade recipe. This soft beef roll is the only dish made by my grandmother and mother so I really need it! Rouladen is a truly classic German food with mustard and pickles and rolled, baked in the oven and served with savory sauce.
Roulade means 'to roll' in French and to roll roulade meat with other ingredients is the hardest thing you have to do ... and it's still easy!

This classic German dish is made with thinly sliced beef covered with mustard, bacon, onions, and rolled pickled fennel!

Delicious beef roulade recipe ingredients :

  • 6 slices of round steak or thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons of yellow mustard
  • 6 pieces of bacon
  • 1 sliced   onion
  • 6 pickled dill
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 2 cups of low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/4 cup of pickle juice
  • 1 can of mushroom with juice (optional)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Sauce :

  • 3 tablespoons of cornflour
  • Mashed potatoes or elbow macaroni to serve

Steps for making tasty beef roulade recipes :

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 ° F.
  2. Place the beef slices and mash them gently using a meat tenderizer.
  3. Apply a thin layer of mustard on top of each slice and season with pepper.
  4. Place the meat on each slice. Sprinkle onions and pickled dill.
  5. Roll each Rouladen jelly-roll style and secure it with a toothpick.
  6. Heat the butter in a skillet and chocolate each roll. Place on a toasted plate, add broth, canned mushrooms and 1/4 cup pickle juice (and extra onions if desired). Bake 90-120 minutes or until tender-fork.

To Make Sauce :

  1. separate Rouladen from juice, arrange it on a plate and cover.
  2. Heat the juice over medium-high heat until it boils, making sure to scrape a little chocolate.
  3. Mix cornflour with the same amount of water. 
  4. Add the cornflour mixture to the boiling broth while whisking until it reaches the desired thickness.

Serve Rouladen on top of mashed potatoes or elbow macaroni with sauce.

Recipe notes :

* Beef should be about 8 "-10" long x 4.5 "wide and 1/4" thick.
